The Cardiologists and Diabetologist are managing a chronic disease process where the whole intention of life style Modification, drug note treatment and intervention is for postponing the complications improve quality and productivity of life and improve survival. This concept is difficult to transfer to the patient across the physician’s desk unless we have trained professional counselor. Their effort will improve the compliance; meet the patient’s expectations more realistic. Also their professionals will help manage the clinical data of the individual consultant in much better way for research, clinical traits and for legal matters. I approve of this idea whole-heartedly.

Prof and Head – Dept of Endocrinology, Sher _ Kashmir Institute of medical sciences, Soura, Srinagar-190011 Kashmir, India.
I do believe that diabetes educators are going to play a major role in the evolution of the care of diabetes in years to come. Healthcare workers need to spend more time with their patients and develop personal rapport with them. Realizing the ever expanding number of diabetics in India this is very difficult in view of the relatively less number of diabetologists/ endocrinologists; this vacuum needs to be filled in by diabetes educators. Given the choice I would love to have couple of diabetes educators in my department. In the process of developing this specialty in India if I can be of any use please let me know.
