About PGDHM: Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management
Dr. Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education (DRFHE) had started Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management (PGDHM) in the year 2003 with the objective of creating professionally trained Patient Educators, who would work with the medical fraternity to offer an integrated multidisciplinary approach to good health. The program has an alumni base of more than 250 students. Currently the 7th batch of the PGDHM program is running successfully.

Based on the recommendation of the University Inspection Committee, the VC has accorded approval for the grant of provisional recognition to DRFHE to offer PGDHM for the academic year 2010-11. The course is now re-titled as a diploma course with the name PGDHM (Post Graduate Diploma in Healthcare Management) instead of the earlier course name of PGCHM (Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management). The MoU with Osmania University was signed on 29th April, 2010.

Course: Medical modules are one of the highlights of the curriculum. Beside, modules like nutrition, sociology, soft skills and management and organization skills are also dealt. These modules are covered through teaching sessions and practical sessions. The practical sessions are in the form of hospital visits, workshops and camps. Apart from these students are also given projects and assignments in relevant areas to build their learning skills.

Eminent personalities from Medical, Nutrition and Dietetics, Communication, Psychology and Sociology are engaged to cover the modules.

The students are provided with a well-equipped library and Internet facilities at the institute and also access to British Library.

Duration: PGDHM will cover two semesters of five months duration each and internship of two months. Internship with healthcare institutions is an integral part of the program to give first hand feel of Patient Educators to the potential employers.

Evaluation: The program adopts a continuous assessment. Evaluation will be through assignments, presentations, projects, surprise tests, and classroom participation, in addition to regular examinations at the end of first and second semesters.

Placement assistance: At the end of the course the institute assists in providing placements to all the students in healthcare sectors like hospitals, doctor’s clinics, pharmaceuticals.

Eligibility:
It is a one-year program primarily for bio science graduates. The program is targeted towards graduates in Biosciences, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physiotherapy and Hospital Administration. Upon graduation, each Patient Educator will play a multifaceted role of being Patient Educator/Counselor on Health and an effective Physician’s Associate.

Enrollment:
DRFHE will be conducting the classes at Hyderabad. It does not have any campuses/study centers/franchisee other than the main office in Hyderabad. Process of Admission:
The selection for the program is based on an aptitude examination known as (ASHE-Aptitude Search for Health Educators) and personal interview.
